I can understand that, but I think it’s a very pre-paradigm-shift way of thinking about music making… In the Creative Commons world, music is as much source material as it is original composition. My work had been worked over by an artist called Fosel who did a great remix of my Electret Quintet releases on the brilliant Earth Mantra release Problem of Universals. It came as a total surprise, and I loved it! I did the same kind of thing for PBK and Vidna Obmana on my recent release Fragment Three Re-Works, recontextualizing the sounds into new compositions. Music is no longer untouchable. Appropriation is OKAY. Attribution is mandatory, but appropriation is fine!

I think the Creative Commons music world is one in which this kind of creativity is/should be encouraged and not stifled as it is in the copyright world.

I loved your remix! I think that “novice mistakes” often lead talented composers into interesting territory. Unconventional is good!
